The Horseshoe Hammond Casino has partnered with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana by volunteering and donating $20,000 to Indiana’s established hunger-relief organisation.
The casino has already had a hand in packing and sorting 192 boxes of perishable foods for the organisation’s Senior Pantry Pack Initiative; 20 employees of Horseshoe Hammond volunteered following a tour of the food bank.
Northwest Indiana’s population is estimated to have 100,000 food insecure residents. They lack the ability to eat healthy foods and are unable provide for their families.
Horseshoe Hammond’s latest donation joins $150,000 already committed to charitable causes over the past year, as well as 2,500 hours of philanthropic work undertaken by casino volunteers.
Caesars Entertainment’s casino is a partner with several local charitable organizations, including Haven House Foundation (Salvation Army), Mental Health America Northwest Indiana, and Salvation Army.
In addition, Horseshoe Hammond has recently partnered with Meals on Wheels, and will commence voluntary work to deliver meals to the elderly from June. Additionally, the casino assembled 200 hygiene kit for Clean the World in the USA.
Horseshoe Hammond’s Vice President and Assistant General Manager, Noah Hirsch, said: “The work that the Northwest Indiana Food Bank does throughout our communities is vitally important, and Horseshoe Hammond is excited to help support the Senior Pantry Pack Initiative.
