Construction has begun on Hard Rock Casino’s latest resort in Rockford, Illinois after a groundbreaking ceremony was held to celebrate the build.
The casino will be built on a 25-acre empty field in Rockford’s East State Street corridor and is expected to cost $310m.
Local media claim that the opening of the Casino will bring in millions of dollars in income and create thousands of new jobs.
Representatives of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, local governments, and Rick Nielsen (member of Cheap Trick) were present at the groundbreaking.
Nielsen is a Rockford native all his adult life. Nielsen stated: “I call Rockford home my whole life. I am so excited to see Hard Rock add a little bit of rock’n roll in mine backyard.”
Hard Rock Casino Rockford is expecting to employ 1,200 union laborers for its construction. The construction should be complete by the winter of 2023.
A casino covering 65,000 square feet will be part of the resort, with 1,500 slots machines and a sportsbook. There will also be 60 tables that offer all types of roulette, blackjack, and craps.
Uncertain if there will be a casino with ten or twelve tables.
Other features that will make up the resort include a Hard Rock Café, Council Oak Steakhouse and YouYu, an Asian cuisine restaurant.
Hard Rock Live’s event center will be able to host up to 1,600 guests in a 23500 square-foot conference area.
Furthermore, a 250-room hotel will be built in phase two of the resort’s construction.
After 20 years of service, Per Jaldung will be stepping down as Casino Cosmopol’s CEO. It is likely that he will leave at the close of 2022.
