Between January and March there was almost $5bn in online wagers made in New York. This included over $300m of revenues.
This tally comes after another positive month in the region’s history, March Madness which inevitably attracted sports betting enthusiasts to their websites and apps during the third month of 2022.
The New York State Gaming Commission reported that New York’s online gambling sites had $1.64bn worth of handle (total bets) in March.
This figure has increased 7% month over month, but is still below the January total of $1.67bn.
New York’s mobile gambling outlets have generated significantly more revenue in terms of revenues than previous months.
Although February saw $82.4m in sports betting revenue, players bet less and win more, March’s gross revenue was $114.3m.
If you look at the year-to date figures which are basically a Q1 report at present, New York has produced $4.8bn of wagers with $320.8m worth gross revenue.
Flutter Entertainment and FanDuel, owned by FanDuel, have been clear market leaders during early New York City’s legal online gambling market.
Caesars continues to pack a punch, even though its numbers have dropped since the opening week, while DraftKings holds a large share of market (more so than Caesars).
FanDuel is so dominant in New York that it has more than Caesars or DraftKings.
BetMGM and PointsBet are the largest players in the market. Wynn Resorts is competing for a smaller segment.
