CasinoGrounds analyzed which states offer the most support for gambling addiction and problem gambling. The analysis revealed that Nevada is the most popular gambling state in the US.
CasinoGrounds awarded a score of 10 to a variety of factors including popularity, presence of problem gambling and treatment facility availability.
Because of the abundance of gambling options in Las Vegas the state has the highest support system for people suffering from gambling addiction. At 2.7%, the state has the country’s fifth-highest percentage of people suffering with a gambling problem, but it also provides the most treatment facilities of any state.
These meetings include anonymous gambling sessions for 123 people per week and support from other state agencies as well as state affiliates to the NCPG.
Oregon was the state that supported gambling addiction second best. Oregon, which has 2.6% of problem gambling prevalence, is another popular place to gamble. It has $1.41 per head of the highest spending for treating problem gambling.
Connecticut came in third with a mere 1.1% problem gambling rate. There are both specific support agencies and state affiliations in Connecticut. The state also supports addiction by spending $0.90 per head.
Michigan and Massachusetts received fourth and fifth respectively. There were reportedly 0.5% to 1.7% and 0.5% of adults suffering from gambling addictions.
Hawaii, Utah, and Alaska were the states that received the lowest support. This is due to the legal prohibition on gambling in all three. Because of a shortage of funding for treatment of problem gambling and the lack of facilities to support them, Idaho and Arkansas were 48th and 49th respectively.
