The NOSE Exchange and Fellowship Programme

Exchange and Travel Grants were awarded to research students and young scientists based in the EU who wished to visit a research establishment, educational institute or a company for a period of typically 4 weeks. Fellowships were available for those who wish to stay for a longer period of time typically up to 3 months. The nature of the visit must be related to the activities of the EU network NOSE II in electronic noses. Provision was intended to complement that provided from other sources, e.g. the applicant's university, conference organisers, appropriate foundations and the visiting institute.

Purpose of grant

Exchange and travel grants were made as a contribution to travel fares, registration (if conference attended), and subsistence for up to a period of 4 weeks. Fellowships were made as a contribution to travel and subsistence costs and are for a period of up to 3 months. Awards were calculated according to the nature of the visit that takes in to consideration the location of the visit and length of stay. A maximum amount of EUR 1,600 was awarded for the exchange and travel grants and a maximum amount of EUR 5,000 for the fellowship. Successful applicants were expected to write a brief report of their visit for dissemination via the NOSE II website (introduction, measurements done, results etc.).
