Workgroup: Standard data format for electronic nose data

The objective of the WG was to define an official data format for e-nose data. This will reduce time consumption for conversion and the improvement of data exchange and strengthen inter-partner collaboration. A standard data format is also a prerequisite for the building of a database with electronic nose data.

Workplan of the WG:

• Definition of requirements: The workgroup created a document with the requirements for the e-nose data format.
• Draft proposal for standard e-nose data format: A draft for the e-nose data format was developped in four revisions.
• Implementation of drivers for e-nose data: This task has been started.
• Implementation of a standard reader application for e-nose data: A XML View is available to read and write the NOSE data format.

NOSE members and the open public were asked for participants in this WG to contribute to the definition of requirements and to technical details of the standard e-nose data format. The participants were part of the review process for the documents and provided proposals to its content. Exchange of information was done through a mailing list organized by the WG leader. Proposals were sent to the WG leader who incorporated them into the draft documents and distributed the drafts on a regular basis.
