Istanbul (Turkey) Scope & TopicsThe 4th workshop of the NOSE II network took place 7 – 8 November, 2005, in Istanbul, Turkey. The workshop offered an opportunity to discuss the upcoming FP7 programme and how the fields in technology and applications, in which NOSE members are active, fit in the proposed themes of FP7: From the Cordis website: "The nine high level themes proposed for EU action are the following:
Besides, it was intended to be a meeting platform to make new contacts as the first step towards future collaborations. It was especially addressed to institutions and researchers in the new EU member states and associated countries working on NOSE topics. "Cooperation: More than half the total FP7 budget will be devoted to supporting cooperation between universities, industry, research centres and public authorities in order to gain leadership in key scientific and technology areas." We had invited speakers from the NOSE II community and from different institutions in Europe to report about their ideas and share their knowledge. Participants were invited to contribute to the event, as well. A poster session gave opportunities to present themselves and their work. Participants were also invited to present their ideas and proposals in a short oral presentation.
