Rome (Italy) ScopeThe first workshop of the NOSE II network took place immediately after the Ninth Edition of the International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN’02). The workshop offered a unique opportunity to reflect on the current state of the art and the directions of development of research and application of the artificial olfaction systems. The workshop was also extended to the steadily growing concept of artificial taste. FormatThe workshop was organised in three sessions, each covering half a day. The sessions were dedicated to the discussion of themes concerned with manufacturing, use, and future development of e-nose technology. Each session featured four keynote speakers who presented their own visions and considerations about the theme of the session. The talks were intended to arise arguments to stimulate the discussion.
